Mos(t) Def(initely) Awesome

Spring Fest was such a success. Sure there were some frustrating moments (uhh....missing food?), but overall it ran very smoothly and all of the artists were super happy.

It started with the set up and the opening of Dante Elephante...

Because it was so early in the day, not a lot of students came out to watch. Too bad because they were actually pretty good! I wish I could have stayed for their entire segment--and their subsequent bands-- but it was work time!

Let me tell you, allocating rider items and setting up green rooms definitely works up an appetite. So CR and I went to CPK for lunch. CR got a delicious chicken tequila fettuccine and I stuck with the classic pepperoni pizza.

After a few more hours of work, I finally took a break and watch some of the bands.

(Rooney from backstage)

Now I'm absolutely obsessed with "Where did your heart go". <3

Attendance-wise: McCarthy quad was now totally packed with Rooney fans. Also a Rooney fan?-- Mischa Barton.

She looks... happy? LOL She also complimented the Styrofoam chairs built by the architecture students hahaha.

Next was Steel Train (super sweet guys), then Augustana...

After Augustana, CR, ZK, and I received our free food voucher for Caveman Kitchen. This place had steak ribs, pulled chicken clubs, and burgers. All three looked delicious but I decided to get a rotisserie chicken with rice and spring salad.

It was so good! The rice was made with chicken broth and the salad had a hint of sesame oil. After dinner, it was time for Quest Crew-- a dance crew that originated from UC Irvine and went on to win "America's favorite dance team" and appeared on Step Up 2.

Soon afterwards....MOS DEF performed!! The quad was now overflowing with people, and the crowd was literally spanning from Doheny all the way to Leavey.

Sure enough, Mos Def was most definitely entertaining. It was awesome because he actually performed for the ENTIRE time (a little over an hour) without excess commentary to stall like other headliners (uh...T-Pain, please learn to stop talking and just sing lol)

But the best moment was probably when Mos Def stopped in the middle of a song and called security over to pick up a guy that was trying to start a fight.

"HOLD UP-- security, can you please come get this dude in the blue shirt? Sorry, but you don't do that at my concerts. Thanks."--Mos Def

PRICELESS.

After this, the crowd became even more pumped and Spring Fest ended with shouts of "Encore! Encore!" from the crowd.

Finally returning home at 1 am with a new Tide pen and a loaf of bread, I'm now ready to get a good night's sleep to end a perfect day :)
